Partner Update: WalkSafe 🙌

We're excited to share that our partner, WalkSafe , has just launched its Safer Communities initiative in collaboration with Mitie!

New research from Mitie, the UK’s leading security provider, and Walksafe, the UK’s leading personal safety app, which questioned 2,000 adults, shows...

  • 44% of women feel unsafe walking in the dark, compared to 21% of men.
  • More than 1 in 10 women (15%) are even prepared to miss social occasions to avoid walking in the dark.
  • 69% of people make changes to their route in the winter to avoid potential trouble spots and feel safer, spending an extra £100 per month on transport.
  • While women feel threatened by the prospect of being followed or sexually assaulted, being mugged or becoming a victim of knife crime concerns two-fifths of men (40%) and over a quarter (28%) of men respectively.

 

And of the people surveyed, 71% believe more needs to be done to improve street safety and 19% say employers should take a role in addressing street safety.

In response, Mitie and WalkSafe's new partnership is designed to enhance personal safety, especially during after-dark commutes, by providing users with real-time information about their surroundings.

The partnership will see Mitie develop enhanced services for the WalkSafe Pro version of the app, which organisations can provide to their colleagues in order to ensure a safer trip to and from work. Providing colleagues with a much better piece of mind on their commute.

Small Business Spotlight: Made by Mitchell 💄

Introducing this week's small business spotlight, Made by Mitchell. This business was founded in 2020 by Mitchell Halliday with a vision to offer inclusive, versatile, and accessible makeup products.

Drawing from his own experience of not having an extensive kit due to financial constraints, he sought to develop products that were multi-purpose and accessible to all.

Mitchell set out to build a brand that encourages creativity and self-expression. Drawing from his own experience of working with a limited kit due to financial constraints, he focused on developing multi-purpose products that are versatile and accessible to all.

Initially pursuing a singing career, Mitchell's love for performing evolved into a passion for makeup artistry, showcasing vibrant creativity on social media. His love for entertaining eventually led him to The X Factor. His undeniable creative soul fuels his transformative makeup art, captivating global audiences with his colourful, expressive looks.

As an early Instagram adopter, Mitchell leveraged the platform during its peak growth phase. Proudly identifying as a first-generation Instagram makeup artist, he played a significant role in shaping the aesthetics of that era.

Mitchell's brand took off on TikTok, where he built a global community and gained recognition for his authentic approach to beauty. Engaging 12-hour live sessions and pop-up events, like those at H Beauty Bristol and Boots, allowed Made by Mitchell to reach an even wider audience.
